Oscar Awards and India
Till now, 4 Indian movies have got a place in Oscar award, which has been running for 94 years – Mother India, Salaam Bombay, Shwaas (Marathi) and Lagaan are the movies which was nominated for this award. The first Oscar Award was organized in 1929, while India’s films are being sent for Oscars since 1957. For Oscar Awards India 2023 India has sent a Gujarati movie Chhello Show from its side.
And also the SS Rajamouli’s film ‘RRR’ which is a blockbuster not only in India but also globally. People expected it to earn its place in the Oscar race. But it was decided to send the Gujarati film ‘Chhelo Show’ (The Last Film Show) from India as the official entry. And now ‘RRR’ has joined the Oscar race as the makers have decided to go for it of there own.
